Au Bercail is a fully comfortable studio in the heart of Rochefort, just steps from the historic heritage sites and the Rochefort Thermal Baths. Ideally located on the Vélodyssée and Flow Vélo cycling routes, this cozy gîte welcomes you all year round for a comfortable stopover in Charente-Maritime.
au bercail – literally ‘the sheepfold’ in old French, an expression that has come to mean ‘coming home’, a warm and safe place to return to.

The studio adjoins our home. You’ll enjoy a space that’s entirely your own, with full independence — with us, but at home.
The furnished studio was completed in 2026. It’s located on the ground floor of our home, with its own independent entrance. A beautiful living area offers a comfortable lounge corner (TV, games, sofa, books…) and a fully equipped kitchen (dishwasher, induction hob, microwave…). The spacious sleeping area is separated from the lounge by a large sliding door. The bathroom is well-equipped (washing machine, hairdryer, heated towel rail, drying rack…).

Au Bercail – the ideal spot to do everything on foot. The historic center is five minutes away, the Vélodyssée and Flow Vélo routes pass through Rochefort, and the train station gets you to La Rochelle in thirty minutes.
10-minute walk
There you can discover Place Colbert for a drink, the Pierre Loti house– the Hèbre Museum, the Rochefort arsenal, and the former naval medical school at the end of Rue Pasteur. Be sure to stop by the tourist office, located next to the post office.
5-minute walk
Just steps from the Au Bercail studio, the Rochefort Thermal Baths invite you to enjoy the benefits of thermal water, known for its effects on rheumatic conditions and respiratory ailments. Between thermal treatments, a wellness area, and relaxation, it’s the perfect way to extend your stay with a moment of recovery, whether you’re here for a treatment course or just passing through. 5-minute bike ride
The Au Bercail studio enjoys an ideal location for cycling tourists: Rochefort sits directly on the route of the Vélodyssée and the Flow Vélo. From the studio, you’re just minutes from both cycling routes — perfect for a comfortable break along the way. La Maison du Vélo Cycl’Océan, near the train station, rents out bikes and electric bikes.
10-minute walk
Rochefort train station is a 10-minute walk away. The train gets you to downtown La Rochelle in 30 minutes, and it’s also handy for reaching Châtelaillon beach. The local bus network is R’bus (Rochefort Océan area), with 6 regular lines. Tickets are sold at the Maison de la Mobilité, at the train station (Place Françoise Dorléac). Network map available here.
